about me.
Hello! My name is Jackie & I am a photographer and a fiber artist.
I have always been in awe of the magic of nature around us. I have a deep love for ancient myths & classic literature; and am constantly captivated by the ways these stories illustrate how humanity interacts with & is influenced by the forces of nature.
My art reflects the ebb & flow of the natural world, the lyricism & poetry of the elements; and is inspired by the rich literary themes & characters that I love so dearly.
My photography journey has been one long in the making.
Photography, for me, is a way to ground; a way to connect to nature; a way to be present & appreciate the preciousness & beauty in small moments.
It is a way for me to practice spontaneity;
to use what is in front of me to manipulate an image & capture a certain moment,
to appreciate nature and light in its purest form.
I strive to capture little, precious moments in every fiber piece I create, too;
allowing the botanicals I use to shape the piece in an abstract flow.
In photography & fiber both, I am deeply rooted in storytelling;
capturing small, precious moments that connect us all as human beings to the beautiful world around us.

about the name.
“Thackery” (sometimes spelled Thackeray or Thackray) was originally an old English surname from the 11th century, meaning “at the thack-wray” (the thack-wray being a place for storing thatch material). It was pulled from the Old Norse words for “thatching, reeds” & “nook, corner”.
I absolutely love the sensory experience of thatch; the look, feel, and even smell of dried hay. It reminds me of Autumn; my favorite time of year.
To me, thatch and storytelling are very similar; a gathering and weaving together to create something new.
